HV cable testing & diagnostics

Underground cables fail expensively and disruptively. Controware provides cable testing and diagnostics that verify integrity at commissioning and detect degradation before an outage.

Methods

• VLF withstand — proof testing of MV/HV cable insulation.
• Tan delta (dissipation factor) — quantifying insulation ageing and water treeing.
• Partial discharge (PD) — locating insulation defects and joints/terminations at risk (see our PD testing guide).
• Sheath testing & fault location.
